FAQ

Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

Did you know that
Earlier, Erasmus was focused only on student mobility. But Erasmus+ brings opportunities to all — students, staff, trainees, teachers, volunteers and more. It’s not just about Europe or Europeans either — with Erasmus+, people from all over the world can access opportunities

Opportunities

The 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life

Erasmus+ is open to all young people, not just those currently enrolled in education or training. With Erasmus+, you can volunteer across Europe and beyond or participate in a youth exchange abroad.

So how can you become part of E+ programmes?
If you are in the age range of 13 – 30, then one of the opportunities for you is YOUTH EXCHANGES

•  Youth exchanges last between 5 and 21 days

•  ages of 13 and 30

•  To participate in a youth exchange, you cannot apply directly for a grant as an individual. Applications must be made by an organisation or a group of young people who in turn select who will participate in the exchange.

If you need help in finding a suitable participating organisation or have any questions, the Erasmus+ National Agency in your country will assist you.List of regions that can be applied

Studying abroad is a central part of Erasmus+ and has been shown to have a positive effect on later job prospects. It is also an opportunity to improve language skills, gain self-confidence and independence and immerse yourself in a new culture.
Erasmus+ also offers the chance to combine studying abroad with a traineeship.
Opportunities are available for students at short cycle Bachelor, Master or Doctoral levels.

The European Solidarity Corps is an EU funding programme for young people wishing to engage in solidary activities in a variety of areas. These range from helping the disadvantaged to humanitarian aid, as well as contributing to health and environmental action across the EU and beyond.

The programme finances projects to engage young people in solidary activities addressing societal challenges through volunteering or by setting up their own solidary projects. The programme’s ambition is not only to be more inclusive but also greener and more digital.
The European Solidarity Corps finances volunteering (including humanitarian aid) and solidary projects. It is open to individuals aged 18 to 30 (35 for humanitarian aid) and to organisations in EU and partner countries.

These projects offer an inspiring and empowering experience, as well as the chance to bring change while developing your skills and competences.
Broadly, you can get involved in:

•   volunteering
•   traineeships
•   jobs
•   local Solidarity Projects
•   Humanitarian aid volunteering (European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps)

n order to achieve its objectives, the Erasmus+ Programme foresees the implementation of the following Actions.

✔️Key Action 1 – Mobility of Individuals

✔️Key Action 2 – Cooperation among organisations and institutions

✔️Key action 3 – Support to policy development and cooperation

✔️Jean Monnet Actions

This Key Action supports:

💡Mobility of learners and staff: opportunities for pupils, students, trainees and young people, as well as for professors, teachers, trainers, youth workers, sport coaches, staff of education institutions and civil society organisations to undertake a learning and/or professional experience in another country;

💡Youth participation activities: youth-led local and transnational initiatives run by informal groups of young people engage and learn to participate in democratic life, raising awareness about European Union

💡Mobility for sport coaches: staff of sport organisations, primarily in grassroots sports, are provided the opportunity to improve their competences, qualifications and acquire new skills through learning mobility by spending a period of time abroad.

Learning mobility opportunities for staff in non-grassroots sport may be supported where the participation of such staff can benefit grassroots sport.

💡DiscoverEU: action offering 18-year-olds the opportunity to have a short-term individual or group travel experience throughout Europe. As an informal learning activity, DiscoverEU aims at fostering the sense of belonging to the European Union of the participants and allow them to explore its cultural diversity. The young people can apply directly on the European Youth Portal as well as an inclusion action. The DiscoverEU Inclusion Action targets young people with fewer opportunities to facilitate their participation in DiscoverEU on equal footing with their peers.

💡The programme offers language learning opportunities to participants carrying out a mobility activity abroad. This support will mainly be offered via the Erasmus+ Online Language Support (OLS) tool

💡Virtual exchanges in higher education and youth: online people-to-people activities that promote intercultural dialogue and soft skills development between individuals from third countries not associated to the programme, EU Member States or third countries associated to the programme. They take place in small groups and are always moderated by a trained facilitator.
